“My one question when I design a piece of jewelry is, can a woman give this piece to her daughter in 20 years?” This quote sums up the work of Monica Rich Kosann, who creates special pieces that have a nod to the past but will remain relevant for the future.

This collection of pendants derived from vintage pocket watch keys go back to an era when pocket watches were wound by hand using such a tool. “Pocket watch keys, like all keys, unlock the stories, mysteries and secrets that are long forgotten,” Rich Kosann says, noting she likes all her pieces to tell a story.

And it would be wise to listen to her  sentiments. A fine art photographer, home good designer, author of two lifestyle books (The fine Art of Family and Living with What You Love), Rich Kosann received the FGI Rising Start Award and was inducted into the CFDA.

Sterling silver pieces, some set with white sapphires, retail under $1,000. There are also 18-karat gold pieces with diamonds for fine jewelry purists.
