Macy’s will be featured as Accessories Magazine’s 2010 Retailer of the Year. A major feature section, to run in the June issue, will profile how Macy’s accessories business operates, and what changes the massive retailer has in store for its accessories departments.
Accessories will interview key executives at the company:
* Richard Arnstein, EVP/GMM, Center Core
* Russell Orlando, VP/Fashion Director, Center Core
* Stephanie Zernik, GVP/DMM, Handbags, Fashion Accessories and Hosiery
* Tim Baxter, GVP/DMM, Fashion Jewelry, Fashion Watches and Sterling Silver.
Planners for the various departments will also be interviewed to share their perspectives on the industry and on Macy’s approach to various classifications.
Macy’s has distinguished itself in recent years with major operational changes, the most significant being a merger with May Co. and a conversion of almost all stores to the Macy’s nameplate. Also major was a shift to a centralized buying office from various regional ones. The impact of this bold stroke was felt throughout the industry and impacted Macy’s vendors. A retailing powerhouse, Macy’s, which operates over 800 stores, is in the process of creating more delivery dates in order to return to regular pricepoint.
