Houston—Stage Stores Inc. showed that it’s truly the little things that count…and add up to big things.

During the month of October, the company—which operates under the names Bealls, Goody’s, Palais Royal, Peebles and Stage—sold over 4,400 brightly colored breast-cancer-themed bracelets and 1,200 umbrellas adorned with the signature pink breast cancer ribbon (each retailing for just $15).

As a result, the retailer donated $65,000 to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), where funds go directly to MD Anderson Cancer Center and will be used for research.

The donation was recently presented to Diane Ackley of The Estee Lauder Companies by Andy Hall, president and CEO of Stage Stores Inc., at one of the retailer’s Palais Royal locations in Houston, Texas. Also present to lend support was Christine Johnston, senior vice president and general merchandise manager of cosmetics of Stage Stores Inc.

“The fight against breast cancer is an important cause for Stage Stores as it profoundly affects women and families across the United States, many of which are our customers and our employees,” said Hall. “The Breast Cancer Research Foundation has been a leader in finding a cure for breast cancer and we’re proud to support them in this fight.”
