Eyewear Designer Robert Marc Receives ACE’s Visionary Award

Eyewear designer Robert Marc

New York–This time, the Visionary Award went to a literal “visionary.”

Eyewear designer Robert Marc has made luxury eyewear a must-have fashion accessory for decades, and his designs have been seen on celebrities the world over. Marc’s influence on the eyewear industry was recognized at the recent 2011 Accessories Council Excellence (ACE) Awards Gala, held at Cipriani 42nd Street on Wednesday night.

Robert Marc’s Visionary Award was presented to him by his friend and client Stephanie March, an actress on the TV show “Law and Order.” When introducing Marc, March thanked him for “breaking social boundaries and creating glasses that make pretty girls look smart and smart girls look pretty.” She then told the anecdotal story of how her husband, Chef Bobby Flay, didn’t want her to vet Lasik surgery as it would mean the end of her in “sexy glasses.”

Robert Marc has been making luxury eyewear for more than 25 years, and has both a retail and wholesale business. He was inducted into the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) in 2001.
