New York—Swarovski has certainly been sparkling brightly recently, what with its recent “Project Accessory” crystal challenge and now a special multi-artist holiday commission and auction.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Swarovski Annual Edition Chrismas Ornament. To celebrate, Swarovski commissioned five visionary artists to “interpret the spirit of giving”in sparkling Swarovski elements.
The results were recently unveiled at the Hearst Tower, where Harper’s Bazaar editor-in-chief Glenda Bailey hosted guest of honor Robert Buchbauer, ceo of the Swarovski Consumer Goods Business (CGB) and great-great-grandson of Daniel Swarovski, the company’s founder.
Following their debut at Hearst, the large-scale, multi-medium works by Mark Boomershine, Christina Burch, Wojung Choi, Natasha Law, and Irina Volkonskii will be auctioned at swarovskiauction.com to benefit The Art of Elysium, with bidding opening on November 16.
The works will also be featured in the December/January issue of Bazaar, which includes a QR code that links to behind-the-scenes videos of the artists at work. The videos will also be available on bazaarstylist.com/Swarovski.
