If there’s one thing we love, it’s the juxtaposition of ethnic heritage motifs with modern silhouettes.
And while many designers are incorporating traditional Navajo beadwork (and designs from other indigenous groups around the world) into more bohemian-styled accessories, Brazilian handbag designer Serpui Marie has taken the trend upscale.
The minaudiere, once reserved for evening and red carpet events, has gone decidedly hip, and this style is leading the pack.
Serpui Marie’s all-over beaded style offers a burst of color and pattern to any simple ensemble, from day to evening. All beads are loomed in Brazil at Serpui Marie’s atelier, where she makes the bags.
Another style from this collection features a cream-colored woven straw minaudiere with just a single beaded strap to slide over your hand. The all-over beading retails for $310, the single strap for $210.
Either way, these bags are definitely something to have—and to hold. And to marvel over.
