Karen Kane Launches Hats, Jewelry

Karen Kane hats and jewelryLos Angeles—Fashion designer Karen Kane is expanding her eponymous apparel brand with two accessories classifications: hats and fashion jewelry, both launching for Spring 2015. Hats will be manufactured by Bollman Hat Company while the jewelry will be manufactured by Glamhouse.

“I always loved hats and jewelry and figured that was a good place to start as I venture into accessories,” says Kane. “The jewelry is inspired by own personal jewelry collection. It’s all costume with semiprecious stones, many of which are reversible.”

Expanding into Headwear

Such versatility is something that echos in much of Kane’s apparel, including shirts that can be turned around or inside out for a new view.

“The Karen Kane Jewelry Collection caters to a demographic that we feel is underserved and undervalued,” says Michael O’Connell, Glamhouse’s Chief Operating Officer. “Glamhouse has enjoyed success in the past with the ‘misses’ market and we feel the Karen Kane partnership will afford us a long term growth into this market.”

Materials are inspired by nature with hand woven raffia and linen incorporated into modern hat silhouettes. Prints are ethnic inspired with Aztec patterns translated into hand woven raffia straw. The collection incorporates functionality by introducing packable hats and offer UPF 50+ sun protection. Retails range from $34 to $79.

“We are excited to expand the lifestyle collection of Karen Kane into the headwear category,” says Don Rongione President and CEO, Bollman Hat Company. “Adding hats gives the Karen Kane customer a trend-right look from head to toe. As America’s oldest hat manufacturer that includes headwear’s top brands, Bollman Hat Company understands this customer’s needs through our global business platform.”

Kane says she is also eyeing other accessories classifications to develop down the road.
